Alicia Juarez is Mexican-American and grew up in both Mexico City and Minneapolis. She is a 4th grade teacher at Windom Dual Immersion and her connection to the BLC program began 4 years ago when she served as the summer enrichment program teacher. She joined the board this year as a way to continue to support BLC as they expand to provide dual immersion enrichment programming to other schools. Alicia believes so much in this program that she also sends her two children to weekly activities through the BLC program. She has witnessed her children’s cultural understanding of the Spanish speaking world expand just as their knowledge and use of Spanish expands. Her hope and desire would be for more children at Windom and beyond to participate in these kinds of enrichment activities.
